Privacy Policy
Bonk Slop is a virtual reality game for Meta Quest made by Dummonk1403 (team Amazing Gorilla), called "we" below. This policy explains what information the game and its servers collect, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and how you can have it deleted. It covers Bonk Slop on the Meta Horizon Store and the version downloaded from this website.
1. What we collect
Your game account. When you first play online, our account server creates an account for you and keeps:
- an account ID made by our server;
- the display name you choose (in the store version it can start as your Meta username, if Meta shares it with the game);
- a scrambled (hashed) copy of the secret that proves the account is yours (the secret itself stays on your headset);
- a scrambled (hashed) copy of a code your headset makes for this game, so that a reinstalled game can find your account again (the headset's own identifier never leaves it, and the code means nothing to any other app);
- your role (player, tester, admin or owner), the game version you use, and when the account was made and last online;
- if you played an older version of the game, the older ID that version used.
While you play online.
- Your gorilla's position and movement, your display name and what you do in the game are shared with the other players in your room through Photon multiplayer servers.
- Our server notes which room you are in and when you were last seen, so staff can see who is online and keep rooms safe.
- If the game's staff turn on fun effects for you (for example the Fun Robot), our server keeps which effects are on and, while you use the Fun Robot, its health and cooldowns.
- Near the town TV, your game tells our server whether the video has loaded and where it is playing, so everyone in the room sees the same picture.
Safety and moderation. Reports you send or that are sent about you (the reason, an optional note, the room and the time), kicks, mutes and bans, and a log of what staff did.
Microphone. The microphone is off until you turn it on in the game, and you can turn it off again at any time. It is only used to move your gorilla's mouth when you talk: the headset measures how loud you are and shares that single loudness number with your room. Your voice is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere.
Technical information. Your internet (IP) address is used by our server for a short time to stop people from flooding it with requests, and our service providers use it to connect you. Unity, the engine the game is built with, may send Unity anonymous technical information about the device, such as its model, operating system and graphics hardware; we do not receive it.
Your progress. Your Bonk Coins, Gold Bonk Coins, unlocks, purchases and the items you carry are saved on your headset and, once you play online, to your account on our server (a cloud save), so they come back on any server and after you reinstall the game. Your settings stay on your headset.
This website. It has no ads, cookies or trackers. It only remembers, in your own browser, that you closed the welcome note. GitHub, which hosts the website and the downloads, may keep logs of visits.
2. How we use it
- to run your account, online rooms and multiplayer, and show your display name to other players;
- to keep players safe: handling reports, kicks, mutes and bans, and stopping abuse of our servers;
- to keep the town TV and staff fun effects in step for everyone in a room;
- to find and fix problems with the game.
We do not use your information for advertising or to build profiles of you.
3. Who we share it with
- Other players in your room see your display name, your gorilla and what you do in the game.
- Service providers that run the game for us: Cloudflare (our account server and its database), Photon by Exit Games (multiplayer) and GitHub (this website and the downloads). They process information only to provide their service.
- Meta: the store version uses the Meta Platform to check that your Meta account owns the game and to read your Meta username. Meta's own privacy policy covers what Meta does.
- The law: we may share information if the law requires it, or to protect players from harm.
We never sell or rent your information, and the game has no ads and no third-party tracking or analytics.
4. How long we keep it
- Your account and its cloud save: until you ask us to delete them.
- Your room, TV and fun-effect status: overwritten as you play and only used while you are online.
- Reports, kicks, mutes, bans and the staff log: as long as needed to keep players safe.
- IP addresses used to stop request flooding: only for a short time.
5. Your choices and deleting your data
- You can play solo without going online, and keep the microphone off.
- To have your account and its data deleted, contact us (below). We will delete it within 30 days. We may keep a record of a ban if it is needed to keep other players safe.
- Deleting the game from your headset deletes the progress saved on it; the cloud save on your account stays until you ask us to delete your account.
6. Children
Bonk Slop is meant for players 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13. If we learn that we hold information from a child under 13, we will delete it. Parents can contact us to ask.
7. Security and where data is kept
Our account server is only reached over encrypted (HTTPS) connections, account secrets are stored only as hashes, and only the game's staff can see moderation information. Cloudflare and Photon may store and process information outside your country.
8. Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the new version is posted on this page with a new date.
